Sansu Gangtok: Sikkim’s Additional Chief Secretary GP Upadhyay represented the state at a nation-level video conferencing meeting convened by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishak. Education Minister Nishak took information on the covid-19 action plan and the preparedness of the states under the Ministry of Education at the national level. The Union Minister had a virtual meeting with the State and Union Territory Education Secretaries and the State Project Directors.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Upadhyay informed the Union Minister about the steps taken by the State Education Department to ensure access to the students of the state during the lockdown period. He said that the Department of Education is conducting online classes for senior level students through social media and other means. Sikkim EduTech app is being used for online education, evaluation and continuity of education for middle and senior level students. Video class and evaluation facility has been introduced in the second edition of Sikkim EduTech app.
Apart from this, the concept of home schooling is also a sanctuary, under which efforts are being made to reach the students who are unable to come to school. It is being started with the aim of reaching out to the students who are unable to come to school. This concept has been adopted by various states of the country.
The Additional Chief Secretary further stated that Sikkim has constituted the State Education Reform Commission and various activities have been started under NEP-2020. He described the work done on the recent covid Action Plan. He said that the state includes the management of education system during the time of covid-19 epidemic, online education strategy in schools and implementation of NEP-2020. In this regard, a roadmap has been prepared for various activities to be carried out from April 021 to March 2022. Other officials of the Education Department were also present at the meeting.

Said: Necessary to constitute ward level management committee in all blocks and nappa areas
Sansu Gangtok: The state government will leave no stone unturned to deal with the epidemic. We are fighting the war against the epidemic under the leadership of Chief Minister PS Gole and we are confident that we will win. This was expressed by the MLA of Gajing-Burmese Vis region and Agriculture Minister of the state government, Loknath Sharma. He held a virtual meeting with the Gising Nagar Panchayat Covid-19 Management Committee. Karma R. Bonpo, District Magistrate of West District, Councilor of Gising Nagar Panchayat and MEO Bhoomika became principal participantsin the meeting. Covid-19 Management Committee has been constituted for all the wards under Gezing Nagar Panchayat in West District. The committee will be headed by the councilors of the respective wards themselves. The committee consists of an optimist, a municipality employee and a volunteer.
Addressing the meeting, Minister Loknath Sharma said that the Corona epidemic has also affected Sikkim. Coordinated efforts are necessary to control the epidemic. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamag (Gole), nothing will be left to stop the epidemic. According to the instructions of the state government, it is now necessary to set up a ward-level management committee in all the blocks and municipal areas.
Minister Sharma apprised himself that he is engaged to provide ration to poor families in this epidemic. He emphasized ensuring early diagnosis and all medical care to Covid infected people. People will treat the symptoms of Covid as normal, it is the responsibility of the management committee to caution them against neglecting Covid symptoms. He has directed the management committee to take note of such situation.
He further said that the initiative has been initiated by the state government to provide the medicine packet at home for Covid-19 management. Ward level committee should be active to deliver the said kits to every covid infected. Minister Sharma has thanked all the volunteers who contributed significantly in this epidemic. The press release issued by the IPR Department (West) mentioned that the meeting was also addressed by District Collector Karma R. Bonpo and MEO Bhumika Pradhan.
