School Health and Wellness Day will be held every Wednesday in schools for the overall educational development of children. Teachers will become health and wellness ambassadors. This is because health and nutrition-level play a positive role in the overall development of children.
Ayushman Bharat program will run
Additional Chief Medical Officer, Dr. KN Tiwari informed that the school health program under the Ayushman Bharat program has been started in the district with the joint efforts of the Union Family Welfare Ministry and the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Under this program, the health department through schools has to create health and hygiene awareness among school going children and encourage health activities conducted at school level.
Two teachers from each school will become ambassadors
Told that under the health program, two teachers (one female and one male) from each school will be named as Health and Wellness Ambassador. Those who will be trained to promote health behavior and prevention of diseases. Health and wellness ambassadors will conduct sessions through interesting activities for one hour each week. Two nominated students from each class will act as Health and Wellness Messenger to convey these health promotion messages to the society. The school will host Health and Wellness Day every Wednesday.
Iron folic acid program will also be conducted
Dr. Tiwari said that under the Anemia Mukt Bharat program, a weekly iron folic-acid program is being conducted to protect children from anemia or its problems. Five to nine year olds in primary schools once a week (Wednesday), Pink tablets of iron will be ensured. Teachers of 10 to 19 years of age in secondary and higher secondary schools will take blue pill of Airan by teachers once a week. Told that in each school, age-specific educationwill be provided by trained teachers to promote healthy behavior and prevention of various diseases.
Identification and resolution of identified health problems will also be done through dedicated mobile team of National Child Health Program. The task of making napkin provision and managing vaccination for age-specific has also been entrusted to the PHC in-charge. Students will also be given basic first aid training. It is said that now every child has been asked to keep electronic record.
