According to the Directorate of Education, in view of shortage of teachers in government-aided schools, it has been instructed to deploy guest teachers there. After this decision of Delhi government, guest teachers will get more opportunity to teach. Currently, the appointment of guest teachers in aided schools will be done temporarily. Till the appointment of regular teacher, guest teachers will be able to teach in these schools.
Sanjay Kumar, Assistant Education Director, Aided School Branch in the Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi, said, “The responsibility of this appointment of guest teachers has been given to the E-5 branch of the Directorate of Education. This appointment of guest teachers in aided schools will be on merit basis. ”
For the deployment of guest teachers, aided schools will have to submit a formal request to the Education Directorate. The Management Committee of the schools will give the teachers list as per requirement to the Directorate of Education. Based on this, the Education Directorate of Delhi will deploy guest teachers.
Government’s decision welcomed
Teachers Union general secretary Rajiv Mittal said, “We welcome this decision of the government. Now students will be able to get teachers according to the subject. Teachers of certain subjects are not appointed in Delhi aided schools many times throughout the year. This affects students’ studies. When teachers were not appointed, they used to take classes for these teachers in other subjects. “
There are 215 aided schools in Delhi. Approximately thirty percent of the positions of teachers in these schools are vacant. According to the Aided School Teachers Association, there are about 6500 posts of teachers in more than 200 aided schools in Delhi. At present, about 1500 posts are vacant. Currently, in the wake of the Corona epidemic, classes are being taken in all schools online. In such a situation, after appointment in aided schools, guest teachers will also take classes through online.
