Education department’s efforts in verifying the educational documents of primary teachers in the state are proving insufficient. Alam is that till now the department has not been able to verify more than one lakh documents of 33 thousand teachers. Negligence is that only in Tehri district, 50 percent of the documents of teachers can be verified.
The High Court had asked the Education Department to verify the educational documents of all the teachers of the elementary education cadre after the case of fake teachers recruitment came to light. After which verification of educational documents of 33,057 teachers working in all state and non-government aided schools operated under Department of Elementary Education was started. Out of these, 33,053 teachers provided 1,51,367 academic documents to the department till December.
But so far only 49,287 documents have been verified by the education department concerned board and university. This figure came out in the weekly review meeting held on 22 January 2021. Expressing displeasure, Director of Elementary Education RK Kunwar has asked to get the educational certificate verified soon. Also warned that if this does not happen, then the District Education Officer (Basic) will be responsible.
