Kerala has the lowest recorded school dropout rate. Education Minister Rabindranath gave this information on Monday. He said that the state recorded the lowest dropout rate of school dropout students at 0.11 percent in 2019-20. Which is the lowest compared to other states of the country. He said that the state has the distinction of achieving the lowest school dropout rate in the country.
The education minister said that the higher secondary school drop out rate in the state is 0.15 percent. Whereas, according to MHRD, the national average of higher secondary school drop outs is 17.06 percent. He said that in Kerala we were able to bring the higher primary dropout rate to 0.06 percent. Responding to a question in the Kerala Legislative Assembly, the Education Minister said that about 6.79 lakh new students have been enrolled in government schools in the state.
Education Minister C. Ravindranath said that this has been made possible due to modernization of educational system and making schools equipped with high technology. We have focused on the modernization of hi-tech classrooms and hi-tech labs in all government and aided schools in Kerala. Kerala has been able to top MHRD’s performance index for the last two years.
Talking About Education in the Corona Virus Scenario, the Education Minister of the province said that reducing the curriculum is not a solution. It is important that the focus areas of the curriculum be emphasized.
