The problems for students waiting for admission under the Right to Education Act (RTE) have increased. Out of 4 thousand students who made it to the RTE admission list in the last session, only 1235 students were admitted to private schools, while the guardians of 2765 students are still circling the administration and schools for admission. Their troubles do not seem to be over yet because even if they are unable to get admission this month, the application process will start for the 2021 session from next month.
As per rules, these students will not be able to apply for the next session. In this way, private schools in the district are rejecting the government’s education plan, which is going to make the future of innocent children who could have become golden. Due to lack of admission, these students have already suffered loss of one year of education, if they still do not get admission then their coming academic year will also be ruined.
Private schools bypassing education department notice
To enroll needy students, a district level committee was formed on behalf of the district administration, which initially issued notices to about 22 schools in the district, despite this, the schools refused to enroll. The process of notice continues even today but the admission process has not started till date. Last month, troubled parents demonstrated at the District Magistrate’s Office. After which the District Magistrate took cognizance of the case and assured to get admission soon.
Institutions came forward to fight the legal battle
In order to help the students who are not able to get admission even after getting selected in the first, second and third lottery of RTE, the legal rights organization of the district together with Yuva Kranti Sena will provide free help in legal proceedings if needy students are not admitted.
