Himachal Pradesh Education Department has responded to the principals who do not give salary to SMC teachers. The Directorate of Elementary Education has issued a letter to all the District Deputy Directors seeking information about the principals withholding salaries of teachers appointed on SMC for June 2020 and January 2021. The Director of Education has clarified that the salary of any teacher should not be deducted.
In the state cabinet meeting held recently, service extension has been given to SMC teachers. In the state government schools, 2555 teachers are appointed through SMC. In many districts, complaints have been received in the Directorate of non-payment of salaries to teachers during the Corona period. Taking cognizance of this, the directorate has sought information about the principals withholding pay.
