Even though the lottery was out for admission to private schools under RTE on April 5 last month, the order for admission has not been received even after one month. Due to this, 619 selected children in the first phase lottery have not been admitted to private schools.
Under RTE, children belonging to disadvantaged groups and weaker sections are admitted to designated seats in private schools. For this, the first phase of the application process lasted from 2 March to 25 March. In this, 862 applications were received, which were verified, and 50 applications were rejected.
812 applications were included in the lottery. The date of lottery was earlier fixed as 30 March, but due to the change in timetable, the lottery was withdrawn on 5 April. In this, 619 applicants were allotted schools, which are to be admitted to the allotted schools.
Even after a month has passed, the order regarding admission in private schools has not been issued yet. The guardians are awaiting orders. There is a lockdown at this time, which may have to wait longer.
District Coordinator (Community Education) Sanjeev Gupta said that under RTE, 619 applicants are to be admitted to private schools in the first phase. The order will be issued after the lockdown. He also informed that the second phase of applications will now be held till June 10, whose lottery will be out on June 15.
