The Ministry of Education said that the national curriculum will be prepared on the basis of inputs at the district level. The ministry told the Parliamentary Committee on Education earlier this week that the curriculum development framework would not be a top-to-down practice. Before implementing this, the syllabus of the states and union territories will come and after that consultation will be done at the district level also.

According to panel chairman and Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Prabhakar Sahasrabuddhe, the committee will submit its report by the end of July. He said that the books should not be big and should bring regional flavor in subjects like history, geography and literature. The position papers in the areas or subjects identified as per the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 will form the basis of the State Curriculum Framework (SCF) and the NCF will be developed on the basis of it.

Four
NCFs to be developed Four NCFs (National Curriculum Framework) are to be developed as per the guidelines and proposed template for position papers of State Focus Groups. Early Childhood and Education, School Education, Teacher Education and Adult Education. For each NCF, the state or union territory will first prepare its SCF on the basis of the position paper in the NEP. This process will aim to address some of the concerns of the NEP.

All position papers will have two sections. The first section will be common to all the focus group papers and the second section will cover the specific features of the position paper.

On
his expectations from NCF on school education to include regional-wise content , Sahasrabuddhe said, “The new education policy should be reflected in the new curriculum. The size of the textbook should not be too heavy and it should lead to an enjoyable learning. Each textbook should also be supplemented with an e-textbook. “
Sahasrabuddhe suggested to Kstamaij the Kentt according to the locality. He said that one size is not right for everyone. Content should be customized with local content.
