Last year there were no admissions under the Right to Education Act (RTE). So far, parents of only one lakh children have applied for admission this year. At the same time, in 2019, about 2.5 lakh applications were received and about 2,03,447 children had taken admission, while there are four lakh seats in 26 thousand private schools of the state. Every year the number of children taking admission under RTE is decreasing.
Academics say that there are fewer large private schools under RTE. Seats are more locked in small schools, due to which the tendency of parents is less in small private schools. Due to this the number of applications is decreasing. Let us inform that last year, due to the infection of Corona in the state, the admission process was not done on the RTE seats. With this, parents have been given the facility of admission to their children in two classes this year.
The last date for application under RTE in the state is June 30. The admission process under RTE was started in the year 2011-12. So far about 20 lakh children have taken admission in private schools. So far, about Rs 80 crore has been spent under RTE.
they say
Every year the admissions under RTE are decreasing because parents are more inclined towards big private schools, while smaller private schools are not. Also many parents are not applying due to online process.

Under RTE only tuition fee is waived. Apart from other school fees, the cost of books and copies, uniform etc. has to be borne by the parents only. In such a situation, most of the parents are in a position not to bear this fee and this is the reason why they apply but do not enroll their child.
