Divyangjan of the state will now be able to get free education at the State Institute of Rehabilitation, Training and Research (Sirtar), Rohtak. Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Om Prakash Yadav said that the registration fee, monthly fee and hostel fee being collected from the students for a long time in this institute has been completely waived off. This decision was taken in the 5th meeting of the Sirtar Governing Body held under the chairmanship of the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment. He said that earlier the above fees were charged from the differently-abled students studying in the institute, due to which they felt difficulty. In this institute JBT, B.Ed, Special education is given for other courses including PGDRP.
There is a provision for taking education of about 150 differently abled students. Along with this, the limit of incidental expenditure to the director and principal of Sirtar has been increased. Under this, now the director will be able to spend up to 40 thousand and the principal up to 10 thousand rupees monthly. Yadav said that an early intervention center would be opened in Sirtar to check and test the disability of children from the age group of 5 to 6 years, so that such children could be provided treatment and education from an early stage.
Along with this, maximum use of all the sense organs of children with disabilities can be made. For this, approval has also been given to set up a Sensory Integration Unit (SIU) in the Institute campus. Apart from this, in-principle approval has also been given to install digital signage display and solar panels in the institute. The Minister of State directed the officers that they should implement all the decisions taken in the meeting at the earliest so that Divyangjan can get the benefit of it soon. He said that this institute has been created for the benefit of the people of Haryana, so its target should be fulfilled.
