To promote higher education it is necessary to expand universities. Universities must ensure how to prevent brain-drain. We must set a minimum standard of education. This was stated by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia at the concluding ceremony of the two-day Virtual Vice Chancellor Dialogue organized on behalf of the Indian Universities Union North Zone at Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University.
In the conference, he welcomed the Ministry of Education and said that the work of education is not merely to make human beings resourceful. Talking about the four challenges of higher education, he said that the biggest challenge facing India’s universities today is to expand. He stressed the need for expansion of universities to promote higher education.
He said that there is also the challenge of universities to maintain their identity. Universities need to work on research and innovations to maintain their identity. Entrepreneurship needs to be included in their courses. Universities have to change their structure keeping in mind the future demand.
He said that we have to strengthen our education system so that in future, parents of countries like America, Japan, Britain should dream of sending their children to a city in India to get higher education. The day we make the people of the world think, we will be successful as a nation.
The event organized by the IPU was attended by Dr. Tej Pratap, President of Indian Universities Association, Prof. Mahesh Verma, Vice-Chancellor of IPU and Vice-Chancellors of other Universities.
