Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will now develop positive values in primary-junior school teachers, school children and their parents. Taking important steps in this direction, the university has started a new one-year course. This course, named Diploma in Value Education , will also focus on raising awareness among NGO workers. Once admission is taken, this course will be valid for three years.
Explain that IGNOU already offers a course in value education. The Certificate Course in Old Value Education is at least six months and maximum two years. Its total fee is Rs 1800.
Admission to one year diploma in value education certificate course will be done after passing 12th. Admission to this will be in both July and January sessions of IGNOU. Its fee is 4000 rupees.
The new IGNOU course will be of 32 credits in total. It will contain overview and perspective of values, socio-psychological basis, pedagogy of values, applications, support and skills of four credits each. While Activities, Life Skills Education and Human Rights in India will be of eight-credits. According to the media report, Coordinator of the Diploma in Value Education Program is Dr. Grace Don Nemching and Professor BK Patnaik.
Three online courses have also been started on the portal itself.
