In Uttarakhand, classes of classes VI to 11th will continue to be conducted online. Students who do not have the facility of online reading, will be called to school on a priority basis. In the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) issued by the Chief Secretary, schools are allowed to operate in two shifts if needed to create physical distance in case of high student population. School buses or school-affiliated public service vehicles will be sanitized daily. Thermal scanning and hand sanitization will be done at the time of admission of students in the bus.
The school management will have to keep the availability of sanitizers and masks in excess. Those day and residential schools will open in the state, which will be outside the containment zone.
Schools will have to nominate a nodal officer to follow the SOP. This officer will be responsible for safe physical distance and compliance with instructions on COVID protocols. In case of corona infection of students, teachers or other staff in the school, it will be the nodal officer to inform the district administration on time. The Chief Education Officer of each district is made personally accountable for receiving day-to-day information of corona infection in schools and informing district administration and high officials.
Separate SOPs have been issued for residential schools. In this, the government has been asked to follow the instructions given by the government on October 24 to open schools. Government residential schools in the state are operated from different departments. According to the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Education will issue the SOP for the residential schools of the Education Department. The Social Welfare Department or other departments will issue separate SOPs for their residential schools.
Schools will not open for primary classes
Schools for 10th and 12th classes have been opened in the state in the month of November itself. The government has decided to keep schools closed for classes one to fifth i.e. primary classes.
