The Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Service Commission (UPHESC) has issued advertisement for recruitment of 2002 posts of Assistant Professor in the private colleges of the state, but in addition to this about two and a half thousand posts are still vacant. The Directorate of Higher Education will send these vacant posts to the Commission of Inquiry in the next phase. However, the process of verification of these posts is going on and it may take time.
The Directorate of Higher Education had sent the Commission two years ago for recruitment of 534 Assistant Professor posts, but the Directorate had withdrawn the petition even before the advertisement was issued by the Commission. It was said from the directorate that a fresh reservation will be determined and a revised petition will be sent thereafter. This process took a long time and in the meantime the Directorate got information about new posts by many non-government colleges. As of March 2020, a total of 3920 vacancies were reported to the Directorate.
The government had also given permission for recruitment to these vacant posts, but along with this the district level committees were also asked to verify all these vacant posts. During the process of verification, after March 2020, the Directorate also got information about 520 new posts from the colleges. In this way the number of posts increased to about four and a half thousand.
However, after verification of the vacant posts, the Directorate sent the Commission for the 2016 posts in two phases. Later 14 posts were reduced in this and the Commission is now going to recruit 2002 posts under advertisement number-50. Contesting students say that about two and a half thousand posts of assistant professor are still vacant. If the directorate sends these posts to the Commission of Inquiry soon, then the candidates will get great relief.
