Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has said that the Delhi government wants to make education a mass movement. In particular, it is dreaming of making students educated and capable by providing maximum facilities to them. Deputy Chief Minister said these things on Saturday. He was launching the Education mentoring program under the Youth for Education program.
In a program organized at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical Women’s University (IGDTUW), Sisodia said that education is a priority of the government. Under this, two hundred students of BTech, MTech, PhD and MBA of IGDTUW will guide the students of Delhi’s government schools from 9th to 12th. In this, five school students will be made aware of science, technical education, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by a student of Science University.
This should arouse interest in students on these subjects. The objective of the program is to mentally prepare the students studying in Delhi’s government schools for the competitive examinations related to them. He said that the Chief Minister’s dream is to increase the participation of students in higher education. Sisodia said that in the 21st century, the whole world is now becoming a knowledge-based economy. Therefore, research and innovation have an important role to play in the growth of the economy. Therefore, the Delhi government is encouraging innovation and research. The participation of women in this field is minimal.
Only 33 percent women are taking part in research and innovation in the whole of South Asia including India. Every year 21 lakh children are enrolled in schools across the country at the pre-primary and primary level. Out of this only 10 thousand girls choose STEM in their studies subjects in higher education. Efforts are being made to bridge this gap in Delhi.
